Set up Twitter

In my last post, I talked about the Understanding of Twitter. Today I will talk about the importance of setting up your Twitter profile, and how.
Most people are very familiar with Facebook. Just to let you know, setting up a twitter account is not the same as setting up a Facebook account. For example, you will not add a favorites, etc. to your Facebook profile. I am not saying that your Twitter profile is not important because it is. Your profiles will always tell about you, so make sure they are about you.


The difference between posting updates on Twitter and Facebook is you are limited to 140 characters on Twitter. So you want to basically cram all the information in 140 characters as possible. But make sure to use key words to either have the viewer look at your profile, or, click the link you may be promoting.

Four steps to complete when creating a Twitter profile.

1.  Go to www.twitter.com.
2. You will see "New to Twitter, sign up. Fill in the proper information.
3.  Make sure when you get to the next step of creating a username that you create a username that includes your name. Now you can create a username of a business if you are representing a corporation. After your name is created it will now be part of your URL. For example, mine is http://twitter.com/timvmarketing. If you try to use a username that somebody has taken, you will be prompt to try another username. Keep is as short as possible. 
4. Click on create account. Now you are ready to start sharing other peoples content and yours while making those business relationships.

• Remember to check your email after you have created your account. Your account will not be active until you have responded to Twitter's email confirming your account.
