Creating Successful Subject Lines

In an email, the subject line will give your recipient an idea what your email is about. You will want to create a great subject line so your audience will take action by opening the email.

Coming up with a different subject for every email is very challenging. Most email programs will only display 30-50 characters. So then you have to come up with a good subject within a short number of characters to get your point across.

Do not use the subject line to advertise your products and services. Save that for the body of the email. You want to use the subject line to tell your recipients why they should open your emails. Giving your audience information in the subject line stating, why they should open it, will give them a sudden urgency to open the email.

Creating a sudden urgency in the subject of an email can help your viewer opens. Keeping in mind that sudden urgency can where off if you do not include in the subject what your email is about.

Example of a sudden urgency subject line:

Not good: What you need to know about Network Marketing

Good: What you need to know now about Network Marketing.

In conclusion, you may want to send out test emails and see what subject lines are working for you. Also, check your spam email every now and again to see what subject lines spammers are using. Then you will know what not to use.

  1. Some good tips, especially about checking the spam folder. I've found that safelists are a good testing ground. I've never had a lot of luck converting there, but it does give me an idea of what works and what does not.
