Part 2 New School Old School Marketing

Here's what new school marketing looks like:

1. Target Your Customers

It doesn't matter what your typical customer is like. With all the new social networks, you don't have to target people like them, you can now target them directly. Twitter is an excellent social network to target your ideal customers. Once you have created an account with Twitter, you can go to "Twitterment" and do a search for your warm market and also nearbytweets.com, and follow people who are interested in eating healthy etc.

2. Make sure you tweet about content relating to your "niche" and these people most likely will follow you back.

3. Start a marketing campaign that includes a web site and a blog, Facebook, and/or MySpace page. Then invite people to your content page.

4. To make sure you get the information out there, be sure to write regular blog content and use Twitter to post your messages. In addition, make sure to use a URL shortener because Twitter only accepts 140 characters. To do this go to http://bit.ly/ and insert your URL to shorten. A really great benefit to shortening your URL's is that you have the option to track their progress.

5. Measure Your Results

A really great way to also track your website for analyzing the traffic is by going to Google Analytics (www.google.com/analtics). Using this site lets you track a lot of information about your visitors. For example: tweets, posts, and even what time of the day they vistited your site.

Most of old school marketing and new school marketing stay the same when you make the change. First you would find the customer then create a marketing campaign, write an effective message, and measure the results.

With the technology of social media, you can share information with your friends much more easier then 5 years ago. Back in the early 2000's with old school marketing you had to email links to your friends or send them to websites countless times. Now when you write a post on your blog, you can send the message to thousands of your friends in just a few seconds. Then your friends can see the tweet and just click re-tweet to share with thousands of there friends. With the power of Twitter and how people nowadays like to share other peoples' information, you can share your stories, ideas and thoughts and this helps the success of your business.
